A Bit About Me (Me) ~ I Want to Live in a Zoo

by Gwen

It is time once again, to step out from behind the book and get to know one another better.

We all have a story and a life beyond the book and thanks to Danielle from There’s A Book, we get share. She asks the questions and we get to answer.

This Week’s Question: Describe your dream home and where it would be located?

My dream home would be large enough so that we all have our own spaces. I thought that we had managed that this last move, but then the boomerang child came back and brought a friend too. (If you are lucky enough not to know what a boomerang child is, it is a young adult that moves in and out multiple times while she figures out what she wants to be when she grows up) This meant that I lost my office/craft room.

On the other hand, I don’t want a house that is so large that it is a royal pain to clean. I am not so good with that and get all persnickety when I have to clean up after two young people that seem to think that I am their maid.

At least 2 bathrooms, don’t make me talk about that any further.

You will notice that I don’t care about the era, style or layout. All of that stuff can be change easily if you are handy. I just happen to be handy:)

 Location, Location, Location….

My house has to be on the Central Coast of California near, but not to near the beach. I have lived in LA, San Francisco, and in the mountains of Washington State and this is where I want to be. The weather is heavenly, 75 degrees year ‘round, there is always stuff going on and things to do and I am just as close to LA and I am SF. Perfect.

I would also need at least 1 to 5 acres for my secret animal experiments. (insert scary BRa ha ha laugh here) You see, I have a fascination with pigmy goats and other wee creatures and I want them all!

This is the best picture of my dear Sasha that I could find easily. She was housetrained, like a dog, and was a dear companion. I want a house where I can have a whole slew of them!

So what is on your wish list for a dream house?

  1. I’ll take a condo at the beach…any beach! Being a farm girl, though, I have also had the fantasy of owning farm animals that can be milked and making cheese. I love that little Sasha face…so sweet.

  2. That sounds lovely – especially the area 🙂

  3. Oh, I absolutely love the Central Coast…I’m only a couple of hours away from there. I think San Luis Obispo, because it’s quaint and quirky, and close enough to the beach. But that’s not what I wrote on my post, as you know; LOL.

I know from personal experience about boomerang children!

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  4. I know exactly what you mean about the cleaning, and my kiddos are still young. Ahhh! I know, once you have children…you always have them (no matter how you got them). Good and not so good things that come with that as well. 🙂

I love the area we live in! It’s so beautiful and (with the exception of the last week or so) it’s got perfect weather.

And your sweet Sasha looks beautiful! I really would like a place to have some pets. I truly miss having them, it brings something to your life that you can’t get elsewhere.

  5. I want a one story house! Our current house is two stories and it makes that cleaning thing even worse….especially when I have to drag the vacuum up and down the stairs.

  6. Your dream home sounds wonderful. I too have a fascination with those little goats but my husband won’t let me get one!!

  7. As I sit hit shivering because of the morning chill…75 degrees year round sounds wonderful.

  8. The biggest thing I want in my dream house is a ton of bookshelves and a big reading chair. Maybe a fireplace, but that’s not a requirement 🙂

  9. Yup, can’t understand folk who think the bigger a house is, the better. It’s just more to clean, tidy and maintain. Having lived for 7 years with only one bathroom, like you, I would never (willingly) go smaller than 2 baths.
I would quite like one of those cute laundry rooms that we see in magazines, and a proper entrance hall rather than falling straight into the living room. But that’s it, really 🙂

  10. My dream house would be on the ocean – so I could hear it at night and smell the salt air all the time. My hair always behaves better with sea salt which is an added perk! However, your menagerie makes me wish I could live where there were prairie dogs – maybe who hung out in my back yard kind of like that family of squirrels does now. Somehow I doubt they would want to live at the ocean.
