I Want to Blow the Roof Off Chew & Dig in the Upcoming Year!

So, BBAW is pretty much leaving me as pumped up as ArmChairBEA did. I am filled with motivation and ready to make some changes. I don’t know about you , but I cruised so many blogs, made new friends, and got loads of ideas for how I want to kick it up a notch around here.

Me thinks it be time for a Bloggiesta of sorts in a couple of weeks. Anyone with me?

Here are some goals that I want to work on:

  • Make my reviews easily searchable by author
  • Maybe add some cover art to my books read list
  • Actively work on selling ad space to book related items (this is to cover host costs)
  • Toying with the idea of splitting off into two blogs, one for nonfiction, one for fiction
  • Working on a few new series ideas and have lined up some great author interviews
  • More giveaways, I am drowning in ARCs and the library is starting to give me the evil eye!
  • Put on my new snazzy robe to judge the Indie Lit Awards with a great group of panelists.

My question for you is this, What is Chew & Digest missing? Are there ways you would like to search that you can’t? What plug-ins, buttons, or whathaveyou  do you really use on other sites that you would like to see here?

My other question for you ………..how did the whole BBAW experience make you feel? What are you really excited about? Are there any changes that you want to make? Anything I can help with?

I love these events because they get me all pumped up! Move over Arnold, cuz I am the one that “will be back”!

Viva BBAW!

  • Sadly, I didn’t participate in BBAW. I didn’t really know what it was until it was upon me and I was out of town for part of it anyway. I was overwhelmed by your shout out to me for it earlier this week. That was incredibly nice of you!

I will definitely be participating next week.

I think giveaways of some NF would be AWESOME! I am so wanting to read some more NF and I love that you read a lot of it. I think your blog is great so I don’t really think you need to split into two blogs for NF and Fiction. You can be whatever you want in just one blog. 🙂 Of course, it’s totally up to you in the end.

  • I’ve absolutely loved BBAW! It’s been great fun and has left me very motivated 🙂 I would like to try to get a better layout though on my site as it’s pretty meh and boring at the moment.

I love Chew and Digest just how it is, so you could split it into two blogs, but I don’t think you have to, if that makes sense! Basically whatever works best for you!

  • BBAW always makes me feel good about our community, and I love to meet new exciting bloggers (like you). Like last year, I roll into this time of year strung out and doubting my purpose, then get reenergized, which is the point I guess. My personal opinion on blogs in general? Less is better, and focus on the content. Buttons and ads distract me. You have such a vibrant personality – it just jumps off the page – and this is what makes you unique. Just my two cents!

  • I don’t think you need to split in two. I mean, wouldn’t you look kind of weird?

  • Oops, didn’t mean to post just THAT comment. People are going to think what I said is weird. lol. But you get my weird humor. That’s what’s weird.

Seriously, though, I love your blog the way it is. You know me and how much I love non-fiction (okay, especially memoirs) and as much as I would love to have my own little place to go to read your non-fiction reviews, I think it would be fine to have them both on the same blog. Besides, since I also read fiction then I would have to split in two and then we’d both look funny.

Hard to believe I haven’t had a cocktail yet, with all that nonsense, eh?

  • I would not suggest trying to keep up with two separate blogs, unless you have a lot more time than most of us do. Otherwise, your blog looks great to me

Please consider this comment your invitation to finish up your BBAW week by adding a link to any reviews you’ve managed to post this week to the Saturday Review of Books at Semicolon this Saturday. Every week book bloggers from all over the blogosphere post links to their reviews and other bloggers and readers check out the reviews and find even more books to add to their wishlists.

Thanks for blogging and reading and sharing.

  • Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a kind comment today – everyone’s responses have really brightened my day. Glad you got The Wild Vine too, I hope you like it!

I don’t think you have to split into two blogs, necessarily, I think readers don’t mind mixing. What you could do is make a review archive that splits fiction and nonfiction (you might have one and I’m missing it because I’m not looking carefully).

  • Stick with one blog. I state in mine that I read primarily mysteries, but my readers know that that isn’t the only thing that shows up– and they don’t seem to mind a bit. One blog = simpler. I’m a great believer in the K.I.S.S. method. 🙂

  • You deserved it.

Handling multiple blogs is a royal pain, so the more that I think of it, the less I want to split. I already have a few and all but this one have been sadly neglected of late. You sold me!

  • There is nothing like an event like this to get ya motivated again right? Now if Only my family didn’t think that I was nuts for going to a “conference”, which is what I tell them it is, without leaving the couch…..that would golden.

  • he he, I am vibrant! You don’t know how great that just made me feel!

The book blogging community is amazing. I write in a few different niches and I gotta tell you, there is no other community that welcomes you with open arms like the book bloggers!

    Big hugs!

  • but I might get more done. Remember that movie with Michael Keaton, Multiplicity? He got a lot done until the wheels fell off.

  • You get me, I get you. This is how we roll:)

Maybe if I just add a tag to the headlines, like NF or something…that might make me feel better.

  • Will do Sherry!

I have a lot of free time, but still manage to get very little done. You are right, better off to stick to one:)

  • I am so glad there is someone else that knows what K.I.S.S. means! Seriously, there are so many people that I will say that too and they give me a funny look. I feel like a sexual harassment case in training when they give me that look!

  • It was my pleasure and just to keep it up, you are doing great!

    The splitting the archive is a great idea. I use tags/categories, but it could be a bit clearer. {putting that on my to do list now}

  • Heh. People IRL just don’t understand sometimes.
